Born Kombe Bob Ninda, in Ndola, the Kabwe raised Christian emcee developed an interest in hip-hop at primary school level, in Durban, South Africa, where his mother had migrated to attend Bible college shortly after the untimely death of her husband in 1989. He understood the need for salvation, and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the tender age of six, upon receiving the message of the Gospel, which was regularly preached to him by his missionary mother.

Following their return to Zambia in 1998, Kombe’s love for rap music continued to grow, and he would nurture his writing and rapping skills with church performances and participation in music competitions in Kabwe. He later adopted the name “Babyboy” which was popularized by his feature on Njoya Tee’s 2007 hit song “Mulilo”. He later formed the duo BabyboyMagnumWorship (B.M.W.), with Mag44.
