“Someone like me” is a song inspired from Bible verses in the Gospel of “Matthew” and the Letter from “James” which read “Let your light so Shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16 “you see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” James 2:24 Written from the perspective of those in need the message in the song is mainly cries from different individuals affected by different kinds of situations, to us Christians whose main objective is to present our good works in the lives of people fighting porn addictions, people driven by corruption, daughters traumatized by extra marital affairs in a home, abused street kids, people being discriminated, people silenced by incest in a family, refugees fleeing war torn countries and people with suicidal tendencies, by offering various types of assistance in these everyday situations which would evidently lead them to glorify their Father in Heaven. In addition I believe it is important that we as Christians develop an attitude of taking the leading role in tackling and addressing such as issues. Being placed on a high platform (City on a Hill) can be interpreted differently, what God revealed to me when writing these lyrics is that many a time we are awarded with different gifts, talents, opportunities, a peculiar character that distinguishes& belonging exclusively to the individual, (you the City on a Hill) but all used to bring glory to God for His good. In relation to the song one might be given a divine ability to console and teach, another an influential/decision making office, and to another the gift of encouragement but all with the objective to bring one to the full knowledge and trust in Christ. So “Someone like me” is more of an Echo and reminder to scale up what has already been instructed to us believers keeping in mind that there’s someone out there that would need the touch of God through your action which would breath life back into a dying situation. I pray we will cease the opportunity.

LYRICS – Someone Like Me by Jo-Z Jay

(Intro) (Limbikani) I hear death is the absence of God in ones life. if you had an opportunity to bring me back to life. . .would you cease it?

*Sample* We should shine a light on, a light on// And the book I write on write on, it was right on. . . . x2 [[ Chorus ]] We should shine a light on, a light on// *hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya – hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya* And the book I write on write on, it was right on. . . . *hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya – hi ya ya ya ya ya ho* x 2

[[ Verse I ]] ok. . .could you shine your light on someone like me? broken me/ from an incest filled family/ broken down and haunted by the secrets in these walls/ so I scream and I shout but who will hear my call?/ can you shine your light on someone like me in this world/ a scared homeless confused little girl?/ so abused in these streets but where else can I stay/ and I sleep in public places in fear of being raped/ can you shine your light on someone like me? now a stranger/ and looked down upon because of status/ a shame is what they call me they smile in disgust/ treat me like am nothing and for my pain they just lust/ could you shine your light on someone like me? who is torn/ enjoyment is what I seek in the form/ of appealing women undressing telling stories of prostitution/ brings excitement I was taught but now I am just in confusion so.. [[ Chorus ]] We should shine a light on, a light on// *hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya – hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya* And the book I write on write on, it was right on. . . . *hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya – hi ya ya ya ya ya ho* x 2 [[Verse II] could you shine you light on someone like me? Its unfair/ my mother hears of these sexual affairs/ from a man who isn’t even trying to be much of a father/ who thinks expensive gifts can take away the tears from his daughter/ can you shine your light on someone like me? With no home/ I woke up to screams and the sound of a bomb/ Where to run I don’t know beyond borders I was gone/ Lost my whole family now am starving all alone/ Can you shine your light on someone like me? Faithfully/ Claims to lead places himself shamelessly Just to be/ Running power corruptly unjustly/ Leading you and many into abject poverty/ Can you shine you light on someone like me? Who cries/ Cause at times I contemplate suicide/ Who cares? no one cares I’ll just die let it end/ But in deep what I need is the voice from a friend so please. . . hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya hi ya ya ya ya ya ya ya hi ya ya ya ya ya ho

[[ Bridge ]] so shine you light into my life take away my pain and sorrow is my plight I’ll give him my life in order to re-ignite So into his hands my spirit I’ll take flight (x2 )

*Limbikani* That love That touch Is all I need for me to carry on I need the light to shine one me As a believer see the world in my eyes Only with you I can be at peace

Only with you I can be at peace ***End***
